Hyderabad man killed and two sons injured in Riyadh airport attack

Mohammed Yousuf, a 46-year-old IT professional from Hyderabad, was killed in an attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

He had travelled there with his family about a week earlier to perform Umrah, and they were waiting to travel to Madinah when the attack happened on October 10.

His two sons were injured: one needed knee surgery, and the other was hospitalised after losing three toes.

Yousuf’s wife and daughter were safe, while his aunt had head injuries but was out of danger.

Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said the attack killed 12 people and injured 309.

The Saudi-led coalition blamed Yemen’s Houthi movement and said it would respond; India condemned the attack and called for strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure to stop.

Airport operations were temporarily suspended to assess damage and check the facilities’ safety, while India’s embassy was assisting the family.
