KakaoBank launches savings account with AI goal-setting advice

South Korean bank KakaoBank has launched a savings account that uses artificial intelligence to help customers work toward a savings goal.

Customers choose a goal and the AI suggests a plan, such as saving 600,000 won each month for a year to fund a trip to Europe.

The account term can be from three to 12 months, and customers can deposit up to 1 million won each month.

Its basic annual interest rate ranges from 2% to 3%, depending on the term.

Customers who make at least one deposit each month and reach their target by the end can qualify for an added rate of up to 2 percentage points, for a maximum annual rate of 5%.

The product gives customers a savings plan tied to a personal goal, while the final rate depends on meeting the account’s conditions.
