Geely deal to take over Alpine’s WEC programme appears to have fallen through
Alpine’s Hypercar programme in the World Endurance Championship may not continue in 2027 after a proposed deal with China’s Geely Group appears to have fallen through.
The programme is run by French team Signatech, led by Philippe Sinault.
Renault Group’s new chief executive had decided to shut down Alpine’s WEC programme, prompting Sinault to seek a way to keep the operation going.
Geely had explored taking over the Alpine A424 cars and rebranding them, but neither company had officially confirmed the talks.
If the deal is not revived, the cars may miss the 2027 season.
A possible alternative is to pause for a year and prepare for a Geely entry in 2028, but that plan is also uncertain.
WEC entries for 2027 are due by 26 November, and Signatech could face closure after the Monza season finale on 8 November.
