Reports of fake electrical panel inspections rise fivefold in Japan

Some contractors pretend to work for power companies and offer to inspect electrical panels.

Complaints about these inspections rose to five times the previous year's level in fiscal 2025.

About 8 in 10 complaints involved people aged 70 or older.
