Michael Mosbach, Neil Peart’s longtime security and riding partner, dies

Michael Mosbach, Neil Peart’s longtime security and riding partner, has died after a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Peart was the drummer for the Canadian rock band RUSH, and Mosbach worked with him on tour for decades.

Mosbach rode alongside Peart between shows during the years Peart travelled by motorcycle, and appeared in some of his travelogues.

After Peart died, Mosbach produced the Bubba Bash charity event in his memory.

The event brought in celebrity musicians to raise money for brain cancer research.

RUSH shared condolences for Mosbach’s family, friends and colleagues, and said they were grateful for his support of Peart.

The band is currently on its “Fifty Something” reunion tour, with Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson joined by drummer Anika Nilles and keyboardist Loren Gold.
