Albert Heijn restores some systems after detecting suspicious hacker traffic
Albert Heijn detected suspicious traffic on its computer systems and shut down some systems as a precaution.
The Dutch supermarket chain has not confirmed how successful the attempted attack was, and the servers used do not reveal where the attackers were physically located.
The disruption also affected the websites and apps of Albert Heijn and its sister chains Etos and Gall & Gall, as well as deliveries and some distribution centres.
The company says customer data does not appear to have been stolen, though its investigation is continuing.
The shutdown disrupted store operations and could leave shelves short of products if supply problems continue.
Albert Heijn has started restocking stores and a controlled restart of some systems, but it has not said when all services will be back to normal.
