AKMİB explores export opportunities in Germany and China
AKMİB attended trade fairs in Frankfurt and Shanghai to explore business opportunities for Turkish chemical exporters.
The group assessed Germany’s Automechanika Frankfurt and China’s ICIF 2026, an international chemical industry fair held in Shanghai.
Its regional exports reached $353.5 million in September, a 20% increase, and its nine-month performance accounted for 16% of Turkey’s chemicals and chemical products exports.
Mineral fuels, oils and related products made up 65% of the group’s exports over nine months, while plastics were the second-largest category.
The group said the shift to electric and hybrid vehicles is changing demand for materials such as adhesives, coatings, plastics, rubber and battery technologies.
These changes may create new export opportunities for Turkish chemical companies, alongside potential partnerships and supply links explored in China.
The group also pointed to digitalisation, energy efficiency and lower-carbon production as important areas for companies seeking to strengthen their competitiveness.
AKMİB said it attended chemical and automotive industry fairs in Germany and China last month to assess new export and cooperation opportunities.
At the fairs, it examined demand for chemical inputs used in electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as China’s production capacity and supply chains.
The association said the region’s exports rose 20% year on year to $353.5 million in September.
