Kashmiri filmmaker Arfat Sheikh released from ICE custody on bond

US immigration officers detained filmmaker Arfat Sheikh on September 24 after he arrived at Dulles Airport.

He was released on bond on Thursday, but his deportation case is still open.

A hearing is scheduled for October 27.

Sheikh has a pending asylum application, while the US Department of Homeland Security says he overstayed his temporary permission to stay.
