Beth Mooney reaches 100-game milestone as cricket eyes Brisbane 2032

Beth Mooney is set to reach 100 one-day internationals when Australia play Bangladesh at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.

She will become the 10th Australian woman to reach the milestone, joining teammates Ellyse Perry and Megan Schutt.

Mooney, who grew up in regional Queensland, is among the world’s leading batters and says she is not thinking about retirement.

Cricket will make its first Olympic appearance at Los Angeles 2028, but its place at the 2032 Brisbane Games is not guaranteed.

The sport must secure a place on Brisbane’s event programme, which is expected to be announced later this year or in early 2027.

A home Olympics could extend the careers of Mooney and other veterans, though she has not said she will still be playing in 2032.

Mackay is being considered as a possible cricket host city if the sport is included.
