Turkey and Belgium aim to raise trade to $15 billion

Turkey and Belgium discussed expanding trade and investment at a business meeting in Brussels attended by Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat.

Representatives of the two countries’ business communities took part in the meeting, organized by FEB and DEİK.

Bilateral trade reached $9.3 billion in 2025, and the countries have set a goal of raising it to $15 billion.

Bolat said they discussed ways to diversify trade, increase investment and help companies reach new markets.

Turkey urged the EU to account for its close industrial ties with Europe when applying its “Made in EU” approach.

Bolat said treating Turkey’s Industrial Acceleration Act as equivalent in all its provisions could help protect companies’ competitiveness and strengthen shared production and supply chains.

The two sides plan to keep supporting cooperation and new investment, though no specific next steps or timetable were given.
