Rahul Gandhi alleges officials are sharing information with opposition
Rahul Gandhi, the opposition leader in India’s lower house of Parliament, made the claims at a press conference in New Delhi.
He said about 200 government officials, including people from the Enforcement Directorate, the Central Bureau of Investigation and the foreign ministry, were sharing information with the opposition.
He also said he had been receiving messages from Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, but gave no further details about them.
Gandhi accused Kumar and the government of involvement in alleged electoral irregularities, which the opposition calls “vote chori,” or vote theft.
He said protesters in Delhi were seeking Kumar’s removal and alleged that authorities were stopping people from reaching the capital by train and bus.
Gandhi also claimed that 20,000 to 30,000 police personnel had been deployed in Delhi; these claims were not independently confirmed in the account.
