Netflix begins filming Angélica Rivera bioseries starring her daughter

Netflix began filming a bioseries about Angélica Rivera on October 12, with a planned release in 2027.

Rivera is a Mexican television actress known for starring in telenovelas, including *Destilando amor*.

Her daughter, Sofía Castro will portray Rivera at different stages of her career and personal life.

The series is set to cover Rivera’s marriage to former Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto and her role as first lady from 2012 to 2018.

It will also revisit the 2014 controversy over a property in Mexico City that drew scrutiny of the government.

Peña Nieto said in a 2026 documentary interview that making Rivera explain the property’s purchase was a mistake.

The series is titled *Tulipán* for now, and Netflix plans to release it in 2027.
