Booker T Says a Last-Minute Board Contributed to WCW’s Shockmaster Fall
The Shockmaster incident happened during a WCW wrestling segment in 1993, when performer Fred Ottman fell while making an entrance.
Booker T, who was there, discussed the incident on the podcast “Insight with Chris Van Vliet.”
He said the segment had been rehearsed earlier, but a board was later placed at the bottom of a wall to make it sturdier.
Booker believes no one told Ottman about the change, and Ottman could not see clearly through his mask.
The segment was meant to set up a main-event match involving Booker, Stevie Ray and Sid Vicious against The Shockmaster, Sting and Davey Boy Smith.
Booker said he tried to keep a straight face after the fall, but Sid’s remark made it difficult.
He also recalled feeling bad for Ottman and thought the incident would affect what happened to him afterward.
Booker T says a board added to the Shockmaster set shortly before a 1993 WCW segment contributed to the wrestler’s fall.
He said the segment had been rehearsed earlier, but the added board was not communicated to Fred, who performed as the Shockmaster.
