Feijóo calls for change at PP campaign event in Madrid

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of Spain’s conservative People’s Party (PP), spoke at a large campaign event in Madrid.

He called for a “total” but calm change in the country and argued that the government led by Pedro Sánchez should be replaced through voting.

Feijóo said a new government should review rules, restore checks on power and strengthen institutions.

He also accused Sánchez’s government of corruption and criticized its approach to several issues, including public media, housing and border security.

These were political claims made at the rally.

Madrid regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso also criticized Sánchez, while several PP regional leaders and former prime ministers José María Aznar and Mariano Rajoy attended.

Spain’s election is scheduled for November 29, and Feijóo urged PP supporters to speak with voters, including people who have not backed the party before.

The rally marked a major campaign event ahead of that vote.
