PT lawmakers ask Brazil’s Supreme Court to investigate Justice Nunes Marques

Brazilian lawmakers Rui Falcão and Rogério Correia, both from the Workers’ Party, asked the Supreme Federal Court to investigate Justice Kassio Nunes Marques.

Their request concerns suspected links between the justice, people close to him and Banco Master, as well as his role in cases involving the bank.

The lawmakers cite possible corruption, money laundering and other crimes, but the allegations have not been established.

They point to a 2024 court decision in which Nunes Marques cast the deciding vote for a company that owed money, saying it served Banco Master’s interests; his defense says he was allowed to take part.

The request also cites messages about possible monthly payments to the justice’s son, but the records do not prove that money was paid, and his son denies working for the bank.

Nunes Marques has previously denied receiving money from the bank’s owner, Daniel Vorcaro, or communicating with him.

The lawmakers want Brazil’s prosecutor-general to act and the information sent to the Senate; the sources do not say what decision will follow.
