Indonesia’s Free Meal Program Reaches 57 Million, Spends Rp153.2 Trillion

Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals program had reached 57 million people by the end of September 2026.

Spending on the program had reached Rp153.2 trillion.

The National Nutrition Agency runs the program through service units that prepare and distribute meals.

The government says it has tightened hygiene rules, including requiring units to hold a sanitation certificate.

It closed 1,276 units that did not have the certificate.

The agency has also added 480 units in remote and underserved areas, which are due to begin operating by the end of October.

Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said future funding will be adjusted to the program’s needs as its delivery is improved.
