Local production reaches about 40% in Turkey’s stationery sector
Turkey’s stationery industry now makes about 40% of its products locally, compared with 30% in previous years.
Taha Keresteci, head of the All Stationers Association, said the sector’s wide range of products makes it difficult to give one exact local-production figure.
He said reducing dependence on foreign production will require stronger manufacturing capacity, with better access to finance and technology and more support for research and design.
Turkey has experience making products such as pens, notebooks, paper, paints and school supplies, but Keresteci said exporters should earn more per unit.
Over the next five years, the association aims to increase the number of exporters and raise Turkish brands’ visibility in markets including Europe, the Middle East, the Gulf, Africa, Central Asia and the Americas.
The Istanbul Stationery Fair is part of the push to reach international markets, and Keresteci said the 2026 fair welcomed visitors from 49 countries.
Domestic production accounts for about 40% of Turkey’s stationery sector, according to the head of the sector’s trade association.
Taha Keresteci said this was an increase from about 30% in previous years, but that the sector still needed to reduce its dependence on imports.
He said improving producers’ access to finance and technology and supporting research, development and design were important.
The association’s five-year strategy aims to increase the number of exporting companies and strengthen the international visibility of Turkish stationery brands.
