Rare Tang dynasty calligraphy scroll sells for US$22.6 million
The scroll, called Jishi Tie, was made by Tang dynasty calligrapher Yu Shinan.
It was thought to have been destroyed amid the chaos of 1945, but resurfaced 81 years later.
It sold at auction in Hong Kong for US$22.6 million, including the buyer’s premium.
Its return gives people another chance to see an important work of Chinese calligraphy.
