Trump calls for Ukraine to replace Zelensky amid dispute over Russian diesel deal

US President Donald Trump called for Ukraine to choose a new president, criticizing President Volodymyr Zelensky for not making a deal to end the war.

The comments came after Trump said he had agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin to allow more Russian diesel onto the US and global markets.

Zelensky and European officials objected, saying sales would bring Russia money to support its war against Ukraine.

Trump also accused Zelensky of disobeying his orders by attacking Russian refineries, saying those strikes could worsen fuel shortages.

The dispute is unfolding as the US and its allies try to negotiate an end to Russia’s war, which began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine more than four years ago.

Russian attacks killed at least 21 people in Ukraine, including children, and caused power outages in Kyiv.

Ukraine’s delegation was returning home from talks in Miami, while the UK said it would strengthen sanctions on Russia.
