Verstappen wins Singapore Grand Prix as Hamilton falls to sixth
Max Verstappen won the Singapore Grand Prix for the first time, leading every lap at the Marina Bay circuit.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc finished second, 7.335 seconds behind, and Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli took third.
Lewis Hamilton, also driving for Ferrari, fell to sixth after staying out on old tyres while rivals passed him late in the race.
Hamilton apologised to his team and said the strategy call was his.
Verstappen still won despite a radio problem that stopped him communicating with his team.
The result was Antonelli’s second consecutive win and extended his lead over Mercedes teammate George Russell in the drivers’ championship to 102 points.
Antonelli could become champion at the next race in Austin on October 23–25 if he outscores Russell by 23 points and Hamilton by 14.
