Willy Chavarria brings Mexican American identity and politics to fashion

Willy Chavarria is a Mexican American fashion designer whose label began in 2015.

He runs his studio in Brooklyn and draws on his upbringing in Huron, California, a rural town with a primarily Latino population.

His designs mix luxury fashion and streetwear, including oversized blazers and dramatic trousers.

Musicians such as Kendrick Lamar, Bad Bunny, Justin Bieber and Billie Eilish have worn his work.

Chavarria also uses his runway shows to make political statements, including a 2025 presentation that referenced immigrants detained by ICE.

He has supported the trans community through work with the ACLU and has featured Latino workers and day laborers in shows.

He says he is now moving toward tougher, bolder designs, and is considering a voter campaign and concert with the ACLU.
