Filipe Barros elected Brazil’s youngest senator on record
Filipe Barros, a former ally of Jair Bolsonaro, won a seat in Brazil’s Senate representing Paraná.
He will be 35 when he takes office in February 2027, making him the youngest senator on record since the early 20th century.
Barros has supported debating printed ballots and called for discussions about the Supreme Court.
His election adds a senator aligned with the right to Brazil’s upper house.
