Honda holds first fan event at Kumamoto plant since earthquake
Honda held a motorcycle fan event on Oct.
11 at its plant in Ozu, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.
It was the first event there since an earthquake struck in July.
The quake shook Ozu at a level of 6 lower on Japan’s seismic intensity scale, and water from a malfunctioning sprinkler flooded part of the plant.
Production stopped temporarily, then finished-motorcycle production restarted in late August.
A plant manager thanked government agencies, local communities and business partners for helping restore operations.
The event included talks with motorcycle developers and a factory tour.
The plant is Honda’s only motorcycle production site in Japan and can produce up to 320,000 motorcycles a year.
