Riyadh hosts international energy meetings on security and clean technology

Energy ministers, officials and industry leaders are meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a week of international energy events.

The meetings include the 17th International Energy Forum ministerial meeting, hosted by Saudi Arabia with Italy and Nigeria.

Participants are discussing how to protect energy supplies and keep markets stable amid geopolitical risks and possible disruption to shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.

The agenda also covers clean energy technology, investment, digital tools and artificial intelligence, carbon management, and demand for electricity.

Separate meetings on clean energy and the Mission Innovation initiative are scheduled from October 11 to 13.

The 25th World Petroleum Congress is due to open on October 12 and continue through October 15.

Together, the events bring governments, companies and researchers into discussions about reliable energy supplies and the technologies and investments needed for future energy systems.
