Saudi Arabia plans more pipelines to protect energy exports
Saudi Arabia is developing more pipelines to provide alternative routes for its energy exports, Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said in Riyadh.
He spoke at a ministerial meeting of the International Energy Forum.
The kingdom’s East-West pipeline already offers an alternative route for oil exports if other routes are disrupted.
Saudi Arabia is also investing in refining and expanding partnerships with China, the United States and South Korea.
The minister said energy security depends on using a mix of sources, including oil, gas, renewables, nuclear power and geothermal energy.
He warned that focusing too heavily on reaching net zero could make it harder to ensure reliable energy supplies.
The additional pipelines and other investments are intended to support steady supplies to global markets, though no timeline for the new pipelines was given.
