SKA loses fourth straight game, falling 2-0 to Severstal

St. Petersburg’s SKA lost 2-0 to Severstal in a KHL regular-season game in Cherepovets on October 13.

Goals from Vsevolod Nikitin and Gennady Chaly gave the home team its lead, with both scored in the first two periods.

The loss was SKA’s fourth in a row, following defeats by Severstal and the two Dynamo teams from Minsk and Moscow.

SKA has struggled to score, and this time it failed to find the net at all.

Severstal’s Vsevolod Skotnikov stopped every shot to record a shutout; the accounts differ on whether he faced 26 or 28 shots.

The result left SKA seventh in the Western Conference with 17 points, while Severstal was third with 20 and had won five straight.

SKA next plays Lada in Tolyatti on October 15, while Severstal is due to host Lokomotiv the same day.
