Turkish Airlines and AJet carried about 8 million tourists to Europe in 2025

Turkish Airlines and AJet carried about 8 million tourists to European destinations in 2025, according to Turkish Airlines board chairman Murat Şeker.

He said passengers arriving in Europe on the airlines spent an estimated $10 billion that year.

In the first nine months of 2026, their European operations carried about 26 million passengers and delivered half a million tonnes of cargo to the continent.

Şeker said European-origin passengers make up about 30% of Turkish Airlines’ international transfer traffic, and that the airline serves 376 destinations with its passenger flights and cargo business.

The airline plans to invest in a sustainable aviation fuel plant with 100,000 tonnes of annual capacity by 2029, and says it remains committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

Şeker called for EU emissions rules to ensure fair competition, arguing that measures based on location or flight distance could impose disproportionate costs.

The airline’s plan is to continue investing in newer aircraft, sustainable fuel and renewable energy, while seeking emissions rules that it says treat airlines equally.
