Hong Kong event marks Sun Yat-sen’s 160th birth anniversary

A Hong Kong association of descendants and relatives of Huangpu Military Academy alumni held events on October 11 to mark the 160th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen’s birth.

Dozens of people whose ancestors belonged to revolutionary groups took part.

They laid flowers and paid their respects at Sun Yat-sen’s statue in Hong Kong’s Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park.

They then walked along the Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail to the University of Hong Kong’s Loke Yew Hall.

The route highlighted places where Sun lived and studied and where he developed ideas that shaped his revolutionary work.

A descendant of Sun said Hong Kong was an important place in his life and the development of his ideas.

The association said the events aimed to remember the past and pass on the spirit and ideals of earlier generations.
