Italy’s CNR plans about 1,000 hires and competitions in 2026

Italy’s National Research Council plans about 1,000 hires and competitions in 2026.

The CNR is a public research body with institutes across Italy, and the plan covers research, technology, administrative and technical jobs.

By 31 August, 474 people had been hired, with 275 procedures nearing completion.

The CNR also planned 146 new competition procedures by November, plus 48 positions under a separate legal provision.

Separately, its 2026–2028 staffing plan lists 544 positions across its main job categories, including 325 researchers and technologists.

These figures describe a major effort to recruit staff and support Italy’s public research system.

Exact competition deadlines are not yet published and are expected in individual official notices on the CNR website.
