Italian Chamber approves majority budget resolutions

Italy’s Chamber of Deputies approved two majority-backed budget resolutions on October 13.

The vote on the budget-deviation resolution was 219 in favour, but the number of votes against is unclear: the headline says 110, while the text says 210.

A second resolution on the 2026 public finance plan passed with 216 votes in favour and 116 against.

The resolutions call for action to protect families’ purchasing power while respecting public-spending growth goals.

They also ask the government’s budget plan to support businesses and fund investment, including infrastructure, while considering higher material costs.

Opposition resolutions were not put to a vote, and the government is asked to set out measures in its budget plan.
