Yunnan unions recovered over 160 million yuan for workers in three years
Trade unions in Yunnan, a province in southwest China, say they recovered more than 160 million yuan in direct financial losses for workers over the past three years.
They handled more than 15,000 legal aid and labor dispute cases, while a worker services hotline assisted people 470,000 times.
The unions say they are strengthening labor laws and oversight, and helping resolve disputes through several channels.
Over the same period, 27,000 labor law inspectors were trained and certified, and unions issued more than 2,800 notices related to workplace rights and legal compliance.
New measures also focus on workers in newer forms of employment, including food delivery riders and ride-hailing drivers.
The unions are studying issues such as employment status, social security, rest time and workload standards for these workers.
Yunnan unions say they will put the measures into practice and plan to hold a province-wide legal knowledge competition for workers.
