Court dismisses Aisha Achimugu’s N10 billion suit against EFCC
A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed Aisha Achimugu’s N10 billion lawsuit against Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC.
Achimugu had challenged the commission’s search of her home and seizure of cars, jewellery and other belongings.
She said the search raised questions about her right to privacy and asked the court to stop the EFCC from harassing her or entering her home.
Judge Musa Liman ruled that the EFCC had the power to search the residence after receiving intelligence about alleged criminal activity.
He also found that Achimugu and her lawyers had not shown grounds for the compensation she sought, and dismissed the case as lacking merit.
The dispute is part of a wider EFCC investigation into her financial dealings, including allegations of money laundering and corruption.
In a separate case in July, a court ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth about N8.9 billion linked to Achimugu.
The lawsuit’s dismissal resolves her compensation claim, while the EFCC investigation remains ongoing.
