Malian official accuses Ukrainian intelligence of supporting militants

Fousseynou Ouattara, a vice president of Mali’s National Transitional Council defense commission, accused Ukrainian mercenaries and military intelligence of supporting armed groups in Mali.

He said the groups were funded and armed by colonial powers as well.

Ouattara said the militants repeatedly attacked positions held by Mali’s army.

In response, Mali’s general staff developed a strategy starting in April.

The plan is to retake territory and destroy the armed groups.

The accusations come from Ouattara, and no response from Ukraine is included.

The account gives no further details about how the campaign is progressing or what will happen next.
