North Carolina beats No. 25 Pittsburgh for Belichick’s biggest college win

North Carolina beats No. 25 Pittsburgh for Belichick’s biggest college win

The University of North Carolina Tar Heels beat No.

25 Pittsburgh 21-17 on Saturday.

Pittsburgh had been undefeated, and the win was Bill Belichick’s first over a ranked opponent since he joined North Carolina last year.

A 75-yard touchdown pass from Billy Edwards Jr. to Shamar Easter put the Tar Heels ahead after Pittsburgh had taken a 17-14 lead.

North Carolina is now 3-2 this season, after finishing 4-8 last year.

The result came as the program faced scrutiny over allegations involving drug use, relationships and possible NCAA rule violations.

The school said its investigation found some actions showed disregard for its standards, but were isolated rather than a systemic failure.

Belichick’s son and defensive coordinator, Steve Belichick, and team general manager Mike Lombardi had left the program.

The game’s outcome does not resolve the investigations, and no further steps are specified.
