Saudi newspaper Al Eqtisadiah marks shift from print to digital media

Al Eqtisadiah began publishing in Saudi Arabia on December 2, 1992, as a newspaper focused on business and economic news.

Its first editor-in-chief was Mohammed Al-Tunsi, and Mohammed Al-Bishi took over the role in January 2024.

That year, the newspaper began a broad digital overhaul, including a redesigned website and a new identity.

It has since added an email newsletter and developed content for social media, video and podcasts.

In 2024, it also received a digital arts award in the media category at the Saudi Media Forum.

These changes reflect a shift from print publishing to a newsroom that shares content across different platforms.

In 2026, the newspaper plans to hold a forum titled “Our Economy and Artificial Intelligence.”
