PP says Feijóo’s call for sacrifice does not mean spending cuts
Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of Spain’s People’s Party (PP), said his government would ask people to make sacrifices.
The comment drew criticism from the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), which the PP says is using it to attack the party.
PP spokesperson Ester Muñoz said the word referred to hard work and personal effort being rewarded, not cuts to public spending.
She said business owners she spoke with in León described sacrifice as part of keeping their businesses going.
Muñoz also accused the left of demanding sacrifice from the public while misusing public money; these were her allegations.
The PP also said Feijóo’s social media video had received more views than a PSOE campaign video, but no next step was stated.

The PP said the PSOE was using Feijóo’s word “sacrifice” to damage the party and make people believe it meant spending cuts.
It has nothing to do with cuts. It has to do with the fact that if you make an effort, you get a reward.
People are fed up with others living off their sacrifice.
People do not have a problem with sacrifice; what they do not want is for others to live off their sacrifice.
