JD.com’s proposed Ceconomy takeover moves closer to EU approval

JD.com wants to buy Ceconomy, a German company that owns the MediaMarkt and Saturn retail chains.

The EU examined whether government support or other benefits could give JD.com an unfair advantage.

JD.com has offered to provide services at market prices and give smaller rivals fair access.

The EU is expected to approve the deal, but its decision is due by November 4.
