Gölbaşı mayor says he will pursue projects after joining AK Party
Gölbaşı Mayor Yakup Odabaşı has joined Turkey’s governing AK Party.
He announced the move at a party meeting in Ankara, where he said he was proud to receive his party badge from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Odabaşı said becoming the mayor of a governing-party district had raised residents’ expectations and his responsibilities.
He said he would work with party officials and lawmakers to deliver projects for Gölbaşı, a district in Ankara province.
The meeting also included new council members who had joined the party.
Odabaşı said he would contribute to the government’s “Century of Türkiye” vision.
