Historic Ankara vineyard house to become a museum

A historic house in Ankara’s Ayrancı district is being planned as a museum about the city’s social history.

The Mehmet Kınacı Vineyard House and a glass pyramid on its grounds have been allocated to Çankaya Municipality for cultural use at no cost for 25 years.

The municipality is working with Ankara Metropolitan Municipality on the project.

The planned museum will show Ankara’s everyday life, trades and social structure through documents, objects, ephemera and visual archives.

Researchers, experts and collectors are helping shape the project and gather material.

A newly expanded third edition of the book “Memories of Ankara, Professions and Social Life” has also been published to help establish the museum’s historical basis.

The sources do not give a date for the museum’s opening.
