Lower fares and hotel discounts fuel post-holiday travel in China

After China’s National Day holiday, many airfares fell and hotels in popular destinations increased discounts.

Average ticket prices to popular cities were more than 30% lower than during the holiday, and bookings for mid-October to November rose.

Travelers are choosing quieter trips to places including Qinghai, Tianjin, Anhui, Zhejiang and Jiangsu.

Activities range from bamboo-raft rides and autumn scenery to local food and cultural attractions.

In Quzhou, 14 scenic sites are free to Hangzhou residents from October 8 to October 31 under a yearly tourism initiative.

Shanghai is also attracting more overseas visitors to a robot experience store, reflecting interest in China’s technology.

The quieter travel period is helping destinations draw visitors and support tourism spending after the holiday rush.
