Vancouver records 1.4 million cruise passenger visits in 2026

Vancouver recorded about 1.4 million cruise passenger visits across 358 ship calls from February to October 2026, setting a new record.

That was roughly 200,000 more visits than in 2025, and passengers spent an average of about $1,100 in the city.

The port authority says cruise tourism contributed more than $1 billion to the local economy.

About three-quarters of passengers spend time in Vancouver before or after their cruises, bringing business to hotels, restaurants, shops and attractions.

The authority expects passenger visits and ship calls to rise seven per cent in 2027.

Shore power lets docked ships use electricity instead of running diesel engines, but the port can currently connect only two cruise ships at once, even when more are docked.

The port plans to have five shore-power connection stations in 2027.
