Peter Krause’s First Starring Role Was in 1995 Legal Drama

Peter Krause’s first starring role was in Fox’s legal drama The Great Defender, which premiered in 1995.

He played Crosby Caufield III, a lawyer whose snobbish manner contrasted with the show’s lead character, Boston attorney Lou Frischetti.

The series followed Frischetti as he defended clients considered unsavory by society.

Fox pulled the show from its schedule soon after its first two episodes aired, and the remaining episodes were shown later in 1995.

The debut drew poor ratings, and an executive producer said Fox had barely promoted the series.

Though the show quickly faded from view, Krause’s work on it helped lead to his casting on the sitcom Cybill.

He appeared in 23 episodes of Cybill from 1995 to 1997.
