Stephen King Praised ‘The Boogeyman,’ Now Streaming on Netflix
The Boogeyman, a 2023 supernatural horror film directed by Rob Savage, is now streaming on Netflix.
It reworks a 1973 Stephen King short story about a father whose children die after calling out about a boogeyman.
The film instead follows Dr. Will Harper and his daughters as they deal with the death of their wife and mother.
In the film, a creature begins terrorizing the family after a man who visited Dr. Harper is killed.
The movie changes the story’s characters, setting and monster, so it is more a new story inspired by King’s work than a close adaptation.
King nevertheless praised the film, and director Savage said King sent the production team a lengthy message about how much he enjoyed it.
