‘Sentinel 6’ Anime in Development With Michael Carter-Williams and Jamaal Williams

Sentinel 6 is an Afro-futurist science-fiction anime in development, with NBA player Michael Carter-Williams and NFL player Jamaal Williams serving as executive producers and investors.

Created by Pat Stout and the late Asa Palmer, it is set in 2429, about 400 years after a near-extinction event called the Great Phoenix War.

The story follows six young people who awaken with a shared power and must defend a divided, post-apocalyptic Earth.

The creators drew on a lack of Black characters and stories in anime and wanted viewers to see themselves represented as heroes.

The project raised nearly $20,000 through a Kickstarter campaign in 2024 to make a trailer, and Carter-Williams and Williams fully funded its pilot in late 2025.

Animation studio Creative Freaks won the bid after the project was presented to two dozen studios this year.

The series is planned to have 11 or 12 episodes, each about 30 minutes long.
