Three Morelos state prosecutors’ police officers hurt and held after Totolapan clash

A gunfight broke out on Monday afternoon in Totolapan, a municipality in the Mexican state of Morelos.

Three officers from the state prosecutor’s office were injured and held.

The clash happened during an operation intended to arrest a high-priority target, whose identity has not been made public.

Armed groups set up roadblocks, including by using passenger vans to block routes into Totolapan and nearby areas.

Morelos state security officials said a coordinated deployment of security agencies remains in the area.

They did not give details about the officers’ condition, the target’s whereabouts or the full extent of the blockades.

The disruption matters because it has hindered the police operation and affected access to the municipality.

Officials urged residents to follow official updates and use emergency number 911 or anonymous tip line 089 to report related incidents.
