The Apothecary Diaries is getting its first animated film, titled The Apothecary Diaries: The Palace Treasure.

It opens in Japan on December 11 and tells a new story written by the series’ author, Natsu Hyuga.

Ai Mikami voices Ginzan, a former head maid who served Ruochin, a consort who died in the imperial palace five years earlier.

Miyuki Sawashiro voices Ruochin, whose body is being taken back to her southern homeland by Maomao and Jinshi.

The journey brings them into a mystery involving the dead consort’s remains and a hidden treasure.
