Indonesia’s Coretax system adds about 2 million taxpayers, deputy says
Indonesia’s Coretax system has helped add about 2 million taxpayers, Deputy Finance Minister Nurkholisoh Ibnu Aman said at a tax forum in Jakarta.
The system, launched in January 2025, brings tax registration, invoicing, payments and reporting together on one platform.
Its introduction was initially difficult as tens of millions of taxpayers moved to the new system and tax officials adjusted their work.
More than 13.5 million annual tax returns have been submitted through Coretax this year, Ibnu said.
Some returns are filled in automatically with employer and bank data, which can make filing easier and improve government tax records.
Ibnu said strong tax administration also depends on skilled staff, clear rules and public trust, and the government plans to keep improving the system through technology, staff training and cooperation with other jurisdictions.

What people are saying
Coretax has helped us expand the tax base by around two million taxpayers.
This year, more than 13.5 million annual tax returns have been submitted through our Coretax system.
A strong tax system depends on three things: the ability to collect revenue, taxpayers’ willingness to comply, and public trust in the government.
When tax services are accessible and reliable, compliance becomes easier. When rules are clear, trust can grow.
