Corinthians appoint Clarence Seedorf as head coach

Corinthians have appointed former Netherlands midfielder Clarence Seedorf as head coach.

The Brazilian club is 16th in the top division, one place above the relegation zone, with eight league games left.

Seedorf replaces Fernando Diniz, who was sacked after Corinthians lost seven league games in a row.

The 50-year-old has not coached since his spell with Cameroon’s national team ended more than seven years ago.

He has also coached AC Milan, Shenzhen FC and Deportivo La Coruña, but those club spells were brief.

Seedorf’s contract runs until the end of 2027.

He takes over a squad that includes former Manchester United players Memphis Depay and Jesse Lingard as Corinthians try to avoid relegation.
