Brazil's Mega da Virada draw moved to January 1, 2027
Brazil's Mega da Virada is a special end-of-year lottery draw.
In 2026, the numbers will be drawn at 10 a.m.
on January 1, 2027, rather than on the night of December 31.
Caixa Econômica Federal said the change was made to address operational adjustments, but did not explain them in more detail.
The prize is estimated at at least R$1 billion, and it will not roll over.
If no one matches all six numbers, the prize goes to those who match five; if there are no winners there, it goes to those who match four.
Bets open on November 3, and from December 17 they will be limited to the special draw.
A basic bet costs R$6, and players can place bets at licensed lottery shops or through official Caixa lottery channels.
