Lebanon investigates second major explosives seizure in weeks
Lebanese security forces seized about half a tonne of explosives from a lorry travelling towards Beirut.
The truck was stopped at a checkpoint in the Bekaa Valley, and two men were detained.
Officials say the explosives included TNT and C4, and a security source said the package also contained nails and ball bearings.
The seizure came about two weeks after the army intercepted a similarly sized package of TNT near the Syrian border.
The discoveries have revived fears because explosives have been used in past political assassinations in Lebanon, including the 2005 killing of former prime minister Rafic Hariri.
Some people have linked the seizures to Hezbollah, but officials say the investigation is continuing.
The explosives were handed to the army, and a military court is investigating; Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has promised to pursue those responsible.

The explosives included about 250kg of TNT-type material and 250kg of C4, officials said.
